The Meadows Board of Directors recently approved plans to update the playground/tot lot. The updated playground area will include equipment designed for children up to age 12, including a new tire climbing area, a climbing wall and a second slide. There will be more interactive components on the new structure than what we currently have. Older children will still enjoy the monkey bars. The swing structure will be updated to the current code for structure design and the new inclusive swing will be ADA compliant and have a wheelchair transfer station. To save costs, the equipment posts will be reused. In addition, as requested in a survey sent to residents earlier this year, the mulch will be replaced with a soft playground surface. To save on disposal costs, the mulch will be repurposed around the property.
The playground materials are made to order, so once the factory has completed the manufacturing of the items and the temperature remains about 45 degrees, construction will begin. The equipment will be transported across the lawn of court 15, which is why the landscaping in this court has not been addressed yet. Once construction is completed, the betterment of the landscaping in court 15 will be completed. The cost for this update was included in the 2020 budget. The expected life of the new playground is at least 20 years.
